Seeing “account suspended” or “restricted” when you log in can feel alarming, especially if there is money in your balance. In practice, Spinboss restricts accounts for a short list of reasons, most of them linked to the UK Gambling Commission rules that every licensed casino must follow. Once you know which reason applies, the fix is usually straightforward.
A quick reminder before we start: spinboss.uk is an independent guide. We cannot see your account or lift a block. What we can do is help you understand what is happening so your conversation with Spinboss support goes smoothly.
Blocked, suspended, restricted or closed: what each means
Casinos use these words loosely, but they tend to mean different things:
- Locked — a temporary security lock, usually after failed logins. Clears on its own.
- Restricted — you can log in but cannot deposit, play or withdraw until something is resolved, often a document request.
- Suspended — the account is frozen while Spinboss reviews it, for example during a fraud or duplicate-account check.
- Closed — the account has been shut, either at your request, through self-exclusion, or by the casino after a review.
Every reason a Spinboss account gets blocked
| Reason | How to tell it applies | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Security lock after 5 wrong passwords | Message on the login screen; started after failed attempts | Wait 30 minutes, then reset your password |
| Failed or incomplete KYC | Email asking for ID or proof of address; verification section shows “pending” | Upload clear documents; see the Spinboss KYC verification guide |
| Affordability or source of funds check outstanding | Email asking for payslips or bank statements; usually after higher spend | Send the requested documents; ask what is still needed |
| GAMSTOP self-exclusion match | Restriction appears at signup or login; you registered with GAMSTOP | Cannot be lifted until the exclusion ends |
| Player-requested time-out or self-exclusion | You set it yourself in the account or via chat | Cannot be lifted early; wait for the end date |
| Duplicate account | Notice that another account exists for you, your household or device | Tell chat which account you want to keep |
| Someone else’s payment method | Card, PayPal or bank account not in your name | Use only methods in your own name |
| Bonus abuse | Bonus funds removed; message citing promotion terms | Ask for the specific term in writing |
| Suspected fraud or chargeback | Account frozen after a disputed payment | Contact chat; resolve the chargeback with your bank |
| VPN or play from outside GB/NI | Started while travelling or using a VPN | Switch off the VPN; play only from Great Britain or Northern Ireland |
Security lock
This is the easiest to fix. Five wrong passwords trigger a 30-minute lock. Do not keep trying, as that only resets the clock. After 30 minutes, use the reset link sent by email (valid for 30 minutes) and consider turning on 2-step verification by SMS. Our Spinboss login help page walks through every step.
Identity, affordability and source of funds
UK rules mean Spinboss must verify your age and identity before you deposit or play, and must check that spending is affordable. If the electronic check at signup did not match, or if your spending rose quickly, the account may be restricted until you send documents. Reviews normally take 24–48 hours once everything is uploaded.
Duplicate accounts and payment methods
The welcome offer is one per person, household, device and payment method, so Spinboss watches closely for second accounts. If you opened another account by mistake, say so honestly. Likewise, a partner’s card or a shared PayPal account will cause a block, even if the money is genuinely yours.

VPNs and travel
Spinboss serves UK players under a UK licence, so access is meant to come from Great Britain or Northern Ireland. A VPN that shows you somewhere else, or logging in while abroad, can trigger an automatic restriction. Turn the VPN off and contact chat to explain.
Self-exclusion and GAMSTOP: why they cannot be reversed early
If your account is closed because of a self-exclusion, either one you set with Spinboss or through the GAMSTOP national scheme, it will stay closed until the period you chose has finished. Support agents cannot override it, and neither can anyone else.
We know that can be frustrating to hear, particularly if you feel ready to play again. But the scheme only works because it cannot be undone in a difficult moment. You made that choice to protect yourself, and it is still doing its job. If the urge to play is strong right now, please consider talking to someone: the National Gambling Helpline is free and open 24/7 on 0808 8020 133, and GamCare, BeGambleAware and Gamblers Anonymous UK all offer support. You can also use GamFin if gambling has created money worries.
Our Spinboss responsible gaming guide explains time-outs, deposit limits and self-exclusion in more detail.
What happens to your balance
A block does not mean your money disappears. In general:
- Real cash balance — should be paid out once checks are complete, normally to a verified payment method in your own name. Paysafecard deposits are paid out by bank transfer.
- Bonus funds and bonus winnings — are usually removed if the account is closed or if a bonus breach is confirmed.
- Pending withdrawals — may be held until the review finishes. See our Spinboss withdrawal problems page for timings.
- Fraud or proven abuse — winnings linked to the breach may be voided under the casino’s terms.
Always ask Spinboss for a written breakdown of your balance and what will be returned.
!Do not open a new account
Creating a second account while one is blocked will almost always make things worse. It counts as a duplicate and can lead to both accounts being closed.
How to write to Spinboss support
Start with the 24/7 live chat, which works even when you cannot log in. If it cannot help, open an email ticket through the help centre form so there is a written record. Keep your message calm, specific and complete. Here is a template you can adapt:
Subject: Account restriction — request for reason and next steps
Hello,
My Spinboss account registered to [your email] has been [blocked / suspended / restricted] since [date]. The message I see is: “[exact wording]”.
Please could you tell me:
- The specific reason for the restriction.
- Any documents or information you need from me to resolve it.
- The current status of my balance of £[amount] and any pending withdrawal.
- How long the review is expected to take.
I am happy to provide anything required. Please reply in writing.
Thank you, [Full name as registered]
Never send your password, full card number or the CVV. Spinboss only needs a card photo with the middle digits covered.
Complaints and IBAS
If support’s answer does not resolve the block, you can escalate:
- Formal complaint through the casino’s complaints form. Say clearly that it is a formal complaint and state what outcome you want.
- Final response must come within 8 weeks.
- IBAS (ibas-uk.com) offers free, independent dispute resolution if you disagree with that final response or no reply arrives in time.
Bear in mind that IBAS rules on whether the casino applied its terms fairly. It cannot overturn a GAMSTOP or self-exclusion block. For the wider escalation picture, see our Spinboss troubleshooting hub, and if you have a general question, use the form on our support page.
